With a history in Fashion, Film and Theatre design I guess in a weird way dolls were a natural progression. All the same basics but on a smaller scale, which, in turn requires less space!
I like to work with storylines and adaptations in addition to straight designing. My girls have outfits to reflect different themes and the dolls also have their own personalities. A lot of my ideas come from the shelves and drawers holding my collection of vintage silks, laces, buttons and beads etc. These have been collected over many years of designing for period films and plays. What used to be an off cut is now an outfit and a good excuse to keep more bits and pieces!
I have been the proud winner of competitions for many of my outfits. Being chosen as one of the twelve designers to compete in Project Dollway was a wonderful foundation for all this. I gained second place in that competition which ran for months and ended with my designing and making a collection of 12 garments. Visit the "Project Dollway" page for my Blog that follows my journey. I stretched my imagination in ways I never thought possible.
Thanks for visiting. Hope you enjoy viewing my work. Have a browse and I would love to hear from you :-)
