I have found a new direction for my creative ambitions!
With a history in Fashion, Film and Theatre design I guess dolls was a natural progression. All the same basics but on a smaller scale, which, in turn requires less space.
I like to work with storylines and adaptations as well as straight designing. My girls have outfits to reflect different themes and the dolls have their own personalities too. A lot of my ideas come from the shelves holding my collection of vintage silks, laces, buttons and beads etc. These have been collected over many years of designing period films and plays. What used to be an offcut is now an outfit and a good excuse to keep more bits and pieces!
I have been the proud winner of competitions for some of my outfits and being chosen as one of the twelve designers to compete in Project Dollway has been the pinnacle of my doll costume designing to date. It has stretched my imagination in ways I would never have thought possible.I was fortunate enough to gain 2nd place after completing all the challenges.
" Success is a journey, not a destination" and I'm loving the ride.
